National addressing concept is a central precondition for lean IPv6 transition in governments

Yesterday the GEN6 partners met in Prague to discuss current activities and focus for the next steps in IPv6 transition of existing e-government infrastructures in European Union member states.

Analyzing the existing approaches for the addressing and the specific challenges of routing by using internal networks – independent to the Internet – valuable reasons for a national addressing strategy for the whole government could be identified. These results will be compressed to a booklet and published by the GEN6 project in the next month.

The overall experiences made by the GEN6 partner in IPv6 transition will be made public in a road show, starting in autumn 2014. First dates will be published on within the next weeks.
